Chris Soumokil was born in Surabaya, East Java, Dutch East Indies, October 13, 1905 - April 12 1966.
His father was South Moluccan, and his mother was Indo Eurasian. He studied law at the University of Leiden. He was the President of the self-proclaimed Republik Maluku Selatan until his death by execution at the hands of Indonesian military forces in April 1966 in Obi island.
